I tried to emulate the look of movie billboard advertisements. Given this game was heavily inspired by prison escape movies, it felt right.
For the SNES Mega Man games, I emulated the look of SNES box art.
Inspired by the box art, I made a template for the whole series, where I only need to change a few things per game. I'm particularly proud of the details here.
I didn’t have much to go on here, but I chose official art and went from there. Particularly proud of the second one.
Here I imitated the game’s title screen, down to the black graphic behind the text, which the game uses for selecting options. The blurred background is relevant to each stream.
For the first game I used layers to create some depth. For the third game, I used official art instead. This let me relate it to the stream better, like stream 6 where the video was a bit corrupted.
Completely different look. I guess you could call this a collage? Almost every layer here is from a different source.
Luckily, each stream turned out to roughly focus on one character, so choosing artwork was easy.
I tried my best to get a “woven” look for the text in Photoshop. By the sequel (if ever there is one) I’ll try to learn a proper way to do it, probably through Blender…
For reaction streams like during E3, I try to stick as close as I can to official promotional art, sticking to the same font or as close as possible.
