TFMP News

My big assignment at work

Instagram Post

Layout

My first design, which started everything. I was tasked to design a daily news post, that will be posted by The Future Melting Pot, my previous employer. I decided to go for a “Browser and Website" look, inspired by Windows' Fluent UI, especially the Acrylic effect. Simultaneously, I also produced a Twitter post design.

Sadly, due to the company’s different posts overcrowding on Instagram, it was decided that TFMP news should focus 100% on Twitter, after a few weeks.

To complement the Instagram posts, I adapted the design to a 16:9 format. This one is more obviously inspired by current news graphics. Throughout 10 weeks, the design was refined through changes to text amount, text size, and image dimensions. For me, keeping the reactive nature of the blurred backgrounds was very important.

I was always responsible for choosing the pictures for the articles.

Reel

To my delight, I was asked to make a weekly newsreel for Instagram, which meant that I could finally repurpose the original “Browser” design. Using the same 9:8 pictures I use for the Twitter posts in an almost 9:16 format took some brainstorming, but I feel that I’ve come across a suitable solution here.

Small details like the HTML-accurate fake URL are very important to make the design work.

My last task in TFMP was to make a page with job information for the second edition of the company zine. We had complete freedom with the style, so I tried challenging myself with a realistic-looking fridge and post-it notes, asking colleagues and friends who I knew that use a drawing tablet, if they can hand-write some words.

It was really important to get the imperfections like the smudge on the fridge, and the subtle bumpiness of the letter magnets, to heighten the realism.
